As the Member of Parliament for the Lichfield constituency, Michael represents all his constituents at Westminster – regardless of their political allegiance.

But before contacting Michael, be aware that Members of Parliament can only help with issues raised by their own constituents;  i.e.  you must live in the Lichfield Parliamentary constituency.

Michael can help you with matters for which Parliament or central government is responsible, such as:

• Tax problems involving the HM Revenue and Customs Department.
• Problems dealt with by the Department for Work and Pensions, such as benefits, pensions and National Insurance.
• Problems dealt with by the Department of Health, such as hospitals and the National Health Service (NHS).
• Problems dealt with by the Department for Education, such as school closures and grants.
• Problems dealt with by the Home Office, such as immigration.

What Michael cannot do:

Michael is a legislator making national laws in Parliament and represents around 100,000 residents in the Lichfield constituency including those not eligible to vote. While he will try and help you, he is unable to settle private disputes with neighbours or employers, nor can he help in family arguments or consumer matters. He is forbidden to interfere with decisions made in court. He has no direct authority over Housing Associations nor, in general, over local planning.

Because Michael has to prioritise helping constituents with urgent personal problems, he regrets he cannot engage in written debates about political policy once he has sent an initial reply.
