News Release 27th January 2009COMMENT ON THE MURDER OF MICHAEL ECCLESCommenting on the attack on Michael John Eccles in Lichfield on Sunday evening, Michael Fabricant says: "The murder of Michael John Eccles is a tragedy of the worst proportions. People are stunned. How could this have happened in our Lichfield? I never met Michael, but he was a Facebook friend of mine and we had stayed in contact. I and so many people who knew him better than I are shocked and grieving. "A former Chief Constable of Staffordshire once told me 'Punishment should be tough and meted out instantly for it to be effective and a deterrent.' Many today will be agreeing with him". |
