News Release

16th October 2006

SEARCH FOR THE BEST SOUTH ASIAN RESTAURANT

Following the success of the Tiffin Cup 2006, MPs have once again been asked to nominate a restaurant in their constituency to compete to be named the best South Asian restaurant in Britain. Last year over fifty restaurants were nominated from around the country and this time it is hoped to build upon the popularity of this mouth-watering competition, encouraging the participation of as many constituencies as possible, further celebrating the diversity of British culture and recognising the importance of South Asian cuisine in this country.

The Tiffin Cup is awarded every year by the Tiffin Club of MPs, formed in 2006 by Michael Fabricant MP, John Barrett MP, and Keith Vaz MP. The aim is to not only applaud the quality of South Asian food in Britain but also raise much needed money for charity. This year the competition is in aid of the charity Paths to Success.

Mr Vaz said, "After the overwhelming success of last year's competition we are looking forward to another chance to sample some of the best offerings of Indian food in Britain. At the same time we also hope to encourage some healthy competition amongst MPs from all parties, all while raising money for a worthy charity."

Nominations from the Lichfield and Burntwood Parliamentary constituency should be sent to Michael Fabricant by 15th December at the very latest. All nominations will be passed on to the judging panel, but will not be individually acknowledged. Constituents should either write to Michael at the House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA or use the webform at www.michael.fabricant.mp.co.uk/contact.ihtml
