News Release

24th March 2006

SKIPPING FOR GUINNESS

180 children from St Chad's Church of England Primary School in Lichfield joined Michael Fabricant to take part in the world's biggest ever simultaneous skip; and Lichfield joined thousands of other children across the UK by completing 100 double bounce skips between 2.15pm and 2.30pm on Friday 24th March to be entered into the Guinness Book of World records. Michael acted as an official adjudicator together with Cllr Mrs Norma Bacon, Mayor of Lichfield. Afterwards, Michael attended a Mother's Day Party for some of the younger ones at the School together with their mums.

"I managed 40 double skips before I decided enough was enough, but sufficient children took part to enable them to enter the World Record Book" says Michael.

Photograph shows some of the world record beaters: from left to right, Sophie MacDonald (aged 9), Michael Fabricant, Matthew Corry (aged 9), and Jessica Kynaston (aged 10).
