News Release

6th December 2005

DAVID CAMERON

Commenting on the election of David Cameron as Leader of the Conservative Party today, Michael Fabricant says "I told David Cameron some months ago that I was a moderniser when Notting Hill was still a slum! I am therefore delighted that a moderniser like David has been elected - and by such an overwhelming majority. His agenda will change the direction of the Conservative Party as it looks towards the future rather than dwelling in the past. And his plans coincide with my own aspirations for the future of our Party.

"David Cameron knows Staffordshire well having stood for Stafford back in the 1997 General Election. Once he has had a chance to settle in, I hope he will be able to visit our County."
