ARTIST'S AWARD

The Lichfield Society of Artists' Spring Exhibition was opened in the Gallery of Lichfield Library on Saturday 11th March by Cllr Mrs Gwyneth Boyle, the Mayor of Lichfield. The 'Michael Fabricant Award for the Best Landscape painted in any medium' was presented by Michael to Maria Mallender for her landscape - or 'seascape' - 'Rainy Days'.

"Next year will be the Lichfield Society of Artists 60th year since their foundation and the standard remains exceptionally high and of professional quality. Although I was not one of the judges, I am delighted that Maria won this award. I was born in a little village by the sea and this seascape reminds me of my early years" says Michael Fabricant. "I hope that next year, the Society will be able to celebrate its 60th Anniversary at a special celebration at the House of Commons".
