News Release

10th January 2005

RAIL WIDENING MEETING IN ARMITAGE

The public meeting, open to all, scheduled for 10am on Saturday 15th January at Armitage Village Hall, Shropshire Brook Road in Armitage will be attended by Michael Fabricant who will Chair the Meeting and Cllr Frank Lewis who is the County Councillor for the area. The other speakers have now been agreed.

Network Rail who will be responsible for the works which will last until 2008 will be represented by Keith Riley, Senior Project Manager for the West Coast Main Line and Steve Turner, Head of Communications. In addition two senior officers from Staffordshire County Council will be present: David Wilson, Deputy Corporate Director of Engineering Services, and Dale Arthur, Project Liaison Engineer. A representative from Lichfield District Council will also be present.

Michael Fabricant says: "Once the work begins, there will be considerable disruption in Armitage, Handsacre, and Fisherwick until the end of 2008. This meeting will explain what works will be undertaken, when, and where and how local disruption to people's lives can be minimised. There will also be plenty of opportunities for questions."
