STATEMENT ON CHURCH SERVICE AT YOXALL HELD ON 16th OCTOBER TO REDEDICATE BURIAL GROUND

Michael Fabricant attended the inter-denominational Service of Rededication of the Burial Ground held at 4.30pm on Saturday 16th October at the Parish Church of St Peter, Yoxall.

He says: "I was deeply moved by the ceremony at which there was standing room in the church only. A large proportion of villagers from Yoxall were there. I was deeply impressed by the resolution of the people of Yoxall. They are determined to stand up to those who have desecrated the grave of Mrs Gladys Hammond and who have terrorised the village for 5 years. People said to me 'enough is enough, we are not going to take it any longer'.

"At the end, of the service we left the church each with a lit candle and walked to the burial ground. We formed a circle of light while the Bishop of Wolverhampton, the Rt Revd Michael Bourke, reconsecrated the ground. You couldn't hear a pin drop as we stood in silence around the graveyard.

"I hope that the so-called animal rights activists will now stop their campaign of terror against those who run the guinea pig farm at Newchurch and against villagers in Yoxall, Newchurch and others who supply the farm or who are merely friends of the people who run the farm. Enough is indeed enough".
