News Release 30th April 2004THE NSPCC AND MICHAEL FABRICANTOn Monday 26 April, Michael Fabricant supported the call of the National Society for the Prevention for Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) for everyone who is in contact with children and young people - through work or voluntary activity - to complete child protection awareness training, such as the NSPCC's EduCare programme. The MP supported this call by signing a pledge board at the charity's annual parliamentary reception in the House of Commons. See photo. A number of celebrities were also present at the event and were thanked for their help in raising money for the charity by the NSPCC. Their awards were presented by Children's Minister Rt Hon Margaret Hodge MBE MP. Michael Fabricant says: "Many people work with children including school cleaning staff and bus drivers who may not have received formal training on how to relate to children in stressful circumstances. How would you handle a young child if he or she started to tell you about some form of abuse? The EduCare programme gives training in this and other areas and is very worthwhile". The EduCare training programme is run by the NSPCC. More details can be found on the NSPCC website.
