Michael Fabricant has today announced the names of the individuals who will be meeting the Minister of Health, John Hutton MP, and key civil servants at the Department of Health in London to discuss hospital care in Lichfield and Burntwood. They will be meeting the Minister at 3pm on Thursday 25th October. This will be preceded by a meeting at Michael Fabricant's office in the House of Commons. Apart from Mr Fabricant, the following people - councillors and charity workers - will be meeting the Minister and his officials:

representing Burntwood Town Council:
Cllr Joe Brown, Cllr Paul Atkins, Cllr Mrs Diane Evans

representing Lichfield City Council:
Cllr Tony Thompson, Cllr Mrs Fiona Royle, Cllr Peter Barrett

representing Lichfield District Council:
Cllr Jill Dunsmore

representing Hammerwich Hospital League of Friends:
Ron Jones - Chairman, John Wright - Treasurer

representing Lichfield Hospital Comforts Fund Committee:
Mrs Paddy Land, Mrs Dorothy Godfrey

"The Government will have an opportunity to hear direct from the people of Lichfield and Burntwood what they think of the Health Authority's proposals for hospital care", says Michael Fabricant. "The timing of this meeting is crucial: the Health Authority should have published its proposals by then Tony Blair has promised me that he wants local people to reach agreement over this vital issue so it is important the Government understands the strength of local feeling. The delegation is made up of both Conservative and Labour councillors as well as charity workers and is representative cross-section of our community".
